Indoor Air Quality Testing

Indoor Air Quality is something we need to test

As we have tightened our homes to conserve energy we have also lowered the air quality inside.  Indoor air quality (IAQ) is a term that refers to the air quality within and around buildings and structures, especially as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants. IAQ can be affected by gases including; carbon monoxide, radon, volatile organic compounds, particulates, microbial contaminants (mold, bacteria), and any mass or energy stressor that can induce adverse health conditions.

The Blower Door test is one of the first test to be performed as well as the whole home examination that comes with it.  We provide an examination of the Air Change Rate and the Equivalent air Leakage area of a building.  From this we can make suggestions and design a plan for dealing with any concerns.

We can balance your HRV as well as calculate the amount of air ventilation is required in your home.  We service our furnaces, and have our chimneys swept, but we forget that is it important to maintain an HRV.  The filters do need to be changed or cleaned, but they also need to be balanced.
